Introduction
Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, and it is a spiritual journey undertaken by Muslims to the Sacred House of God (Kaaba) in Mecca. God has enjoined it upon capable Muslims once in a lifetime, due to its great virtue and profound impact on the soul.
The Meaning and Importance of Hajj
Hajj means intending to visit the Sacred House of God to perform specific rituals at a specific time. It is an opportunity for a Muslim to renew their faith, purify their heart from sins, and return as they were on the day their mother gave birth to them, as mentioned in the Hadith.
God Almighty says:
“And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House – for whoever is able to find thereto a way.” (Surah Al-Imran, verse 97)
